Google Phone; Nexus One

I was just reading all the buzz about the Google phone. Seems to me not enough people are talking about the fact that Google is a media company and not a phone company. Once you see that then it’s easy to see how they plan to sell an unlocked phone. One word “Advertising”.

With the GPS on the phone and Google mapping every business in the world they have something thats amazing and scary. Think about it this way, you keep everything in the world on Googles platform. Email, searches, documents etc. Now all Google needs to do is connect you to what you have been looking for via (google shopping, searches etc) Once they do that then maybe the stores that are nearby may want to sell you something that you’ve been looking for at an amazing price. If that work then you’ve got mobile pay per click so to speak. Consumer buys the item, business sells the item and Google can prove that their ads work. Why, because you would have never come into the store if Google didn’t let you know that what you wanted was for sale. An even more compelling case can be made if you throw in Google payments.    Yeah, I know this is a stretch but it seems to me that this kind of technology will not scare off the kids of today. They won’t ask for it. They’ll demand it! In the end Google pays for the phone by getting people to use it and allow it to advertise to them.
